Custom® 455 AMS 5617 at Rockwell Industries is a martensitic age-hardenable stainless steel that is relatively soft and formable in the annealed condition. A single-step aging treatment develops exceptionally high yield strength with good ductility and toughness.
Melting Method: VIM-VAR
Heat treatment: solution heat treated to 1800 degrees F, held for 60 minutes, then quenched and cooled to -100 degrees F and held for at least 8 hours.
