PH13-8Mo Bar, AMS 5629

PH 13-8 Mo is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel that has excellent strength, high hardness, superior toughness, and good corrosion resistance. It is double vacuum melted in a VIM-VAR process. 13-8 steel provides a wide range of properties through a single precipitation hardening heat treatment. Its corrosion resistance is similar to 304 stainless, with greatest resistance in the fully hardened conditions.

Common applications are: Aerospace components, components in the petrochemical and nuclear industries, injection molding equipment.

Bars shall be solution heat treated by heating to 1700 °F ± 25 °F, holding at heat for a time commensurate with section thickness, heating equipment, and procedure used, and cooling to below 60 °F.

Hardness of bars shall not exceed 363 HB. See precipitation hardening parameters and minimum tensile properties below:
